Philippians Part 3: To live is Christ
There are moments in the Christian life when growth feels obvious.
A sin that once controlled us begins to lose its grip. A desire for God's Word grows stronger. Forgiveness comes a little easier. Prayer becomes less like an obligation and more like a necessity. We begin to see changes in ourselves that could only have come from the grace of God. But there are also seasons when sanctification feels painfully slow.
Philippians Part 1: To live is Christ
Every one of us interprets life through a particular lens.
When things go well, we feel successful. When plans fall apart, we wonder what went wrong. We naturally evaluate our circumstances by asking questions like, "Am I comfortable?" "Am I succeeding?" "Is life getting easier?"
But the Apostle Paul asks an entirely different question.
Writing from a Roman prison, after enduring shipwreck, imprisonment, and countless hardships, Paul isn't consumed with his own comfort or even his own freedom. Instead, his greatest concern is whether Christ is being made known. His chains have not changed his priorities because the gospel has transformed the way he interprets every circumstance.
Titus Week 4: Gospel Witness in Everyday Life
As we come to the end of Paul's letter to Titus, we're reminded that Christianity has never been merely about believing the right things, it has always been about becoming the right kind of people.
Every day, our lives communicate something about Jesus.
Before many people will ever read a Bible, they'll read us. They'll watch how we respond when we're criticized, how we treat those who disagree with us, how we speak about our neighbors, our leaders, and even our enemies. Whether we realize it or not, every Christian is a witness. The question isn't whether we are witnessing, but what kind of witness we are.
Titus Week 3: Doctrine That Changes Lives
Many Christians love theology. We enjoy studying Scripture, reading books, listening to sermons, and discussing doctrine. Those things are good. In fact, the Apostle Paul spends much of his letters defending sound doctrine because truth matters. But Titus chapter 2 reminds us that doctrine was never intended to remain merely intellectual. God's truth is meant to shape God's people.
Titus Week 2: Healthy Churches Don't Happen by Accident
One of the greatest misconceptions about church health is that it can be manufactured through better programs, more engaging music, or clever marketing. While those things may have their place, the Apostle Paul points Titus in an entirely different direction….
